MTBSkills is more than just learning to ride a bike… it's an experience.
Since starting in January of 2008, MTBSkills.com.au has become Australia's #1 provider of Mountain Bike skills courses and camps. We conduct courses to improve your riding in many locations in Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Canberra.
MTBSKills has had over 2000 participants through our courses in just 5 years. We provide our participants with a unique experience focusing on safety, professionalism and fun. Given the high-risk nature of mountain biking, safety is always at the top of our mind. Through our rigorous training and instructor selection process, we ensure that our participants are always made to feel comfortable and encouraged. Our instructors take a group of no more than 5 participants through various techniques and drills, designed to challenge them in a safe and skill appropriate environment.
We offer half day mountain bike skills courses, designed specifically to improve your riding technique in a structured and practiced learning environment. Our skills courses are not just for beginners - they range from beginner to advanced levels. We also offer one-on-one options and women's specific courses.
With a maximum of only 5 participants per instuctor, our skills courses are focussed on you developing the techniques required to improve your riding in a relaxed and fun atmosphere with people of the same ability as you. Your instructor is able to give your personal instruction and feedback to help you understand how to go faster, smoother and with more style than you ever have before.
You'll find that you will be challenged in the course, but you will achieve things that you never thought you could - and have fun at the same time!

Why not come on one of our famous mountain bike camps or weekend retreats? Packed full of riding, skills and entertainment these camps - usually over a weekend are a fantastic way to visit a new location, be shown the best trails and have our fully-qualified instructors guide you through the techniques required to make the most out of these trails.
The most famous of our trips is our Mt Buller Weekend Retreat, held on the Melbourne Cup Long Weekend since 2008. On this weekend we aim to ride all the trails at Mt Buller. Included in the adventure packed weekend are days of sinlge track heaven, days of epic rides, days of riding down and shuttles up, heaps of apres ride entertainment, organised activities and relaxation time at the chalet.
We also have women's camps that give the ladies a chance to get out on their mountain bikes with like-minded women, make new friends, and learn new skills. As well as have lots of coffees and chatting. We regularly hold women's camps at Mt Buller, Forrest and Anglesea and will soon be offering in other locations around Australia.

In conjunction with Australian Mountain Bike Instructors' Association (AMBIA) we conduct Mountain Bike Instructor Training courses. These are designed to not only provide would-be-instructors with industry specific training, but also to enable some to join our ranks as we grow into new locations.
With no true certification for mountain bike instructors in Australia, it is the aim of AMBIA to provide a pathway for instructors to gain qualifications and experience in this ever growing industry.
The Level 1 Mountain Bike Basic Skills Instructor Course is held over 3 consecutive days and focuses on the planning, instructing and evaluating mountain bike instructional sessions. It will give you the skills and knowledge required to instruct others in mountain biking, and to lead groups associated with your club and other organisations. This course is suited to those wanting to work as a mountain bike instructor, outdoor recreation leaders and adventure guides, mountain bike club volunteers and anyone wanting to develop their knowledge in mountain bike instructing.
The course covers many elements that you will need to become a professional instructor and that doesn't just mean how to ride a bike.
Our course content includes:

We are often asked about our instructional methods. Developed by our key instructors we've developed our very own instruction framework which we call, VPMT (Vision, Position, Momentum, Technique).
Our method is designed to not only help you get the most from your riding, but to also help you when we are not there to assist. See what Adam Kelsall has to say about it all.
