Anglesea Beginners Clinic - May 08 PDF Print E-mail

We had the first of our two session Beginners clinic at Anglesea. This style of clinic will prove to be very popular, as we found that most of the participants enjoyed "taking it right back to basics"

MTBSkills.com.au now have a lovely new video camera, that we will be using as both a training tool and a bit of fun.

Here a small video of the session.

Lysterfield Skills courses - 29th March PDF Print E-mail

Thank you to all of you who attended our skills courses at Lysterfield on Saturday.

No doubt the weather was in the back of everyone’s minds, apart form a few showers over the day, we could have had worse!

10am – Women’s MTB skills course

It was so encouraging to see 23 women attending our course in the morning session.  It just goes to prove that women love riding their mountain bikes too & probably want to kick some guys butt out on the trail.  I know in my group, Group 3, we had some awesome improvements with some really funny falls & near misses.  Every single person became faster, smoother, more gutsier & determined, as well as feeling like they were in control of their bikes not the other way around.   I am sure this was the same in every group on the day.  Go girls!
We were also lucky to have Rob Faull who is a MTB guru with tonnes of racing & coaching experience. Not to mention, also knows Lysterfield like the back of his hand.
A big thanks to Adam Kelsall too, who is an outdoor education teacher amongst other qualifications.  His patience & teaching methods were well received in both of his groups.  Christy came along to assist Adam, she is an avid MTB’er with lots of racing & riding experience.  Christy just loves to help people & see them excel, especially if they can become faster than a guy!

March 1st - You Yang's PDF Print E-mail

We landed another sensational day on Saturday. Sunny, not a breath of wind, around 24 degrees and a bunch of enthusiastic riders.

Unfortunately we had our first mishap with a participant encountering an irrepairable mechanical within the first 5 minutes of our warm up. Thankfully he was positive about it and we will get to see him again at our upcoming Lysterfield course on 29th March.

Adam, one of our new instructors to be, attended today to hang out with Norm's group to get a feel for how the course is run. Thanks for your time and enthusiasm today mate!

Norm took his more advanced group whilst I had four girls ranging from beginner to a competant but a little tentative intermediate rider. HI Sally! We also had a brand new Scott Contessa on board that belonged to Kristen and a not yet converted to clipless rider, Jenny. Our inbetween girl, Avril, was keen to have a go at anything, we were sad to see you had to leave early!

You Yangs 16th Feb 2008 PDF Print E-mail

Small GroupSaturday 16th February brought on a typically warm summers day.

All participants were on time and no one forgot anything, helmet, forms, drinks, shoes. You know the normal things you forget to bring to even a social ride.

This definitely made our job easier and we were able to run the course smoothly and to plan.
