"It was better than I imagined it would be. Despite the testing weather, I had an asbolute ball. It was great to meet so many people who love mountain biking…
I really enjoyed it, I thought I picked the
right group for my ability.I will go out now and practice, the lollies
were good too. Thanks for a good day.
"I learnt many things, but the two most important: to concentrate on the course, not boys' bums in front of me; and watch out for black boys - they're tough…
Heaps. Basic skills - positions, (un)weighting, cornering, small obstacles. Looking where you want to go rather than where you don\'t. Breathing when concentrating (don\'t laugh - this has really helped!)
Safety first - basic checks, navigating slight downhill in attack
position, a switchback, drop, built up log, roots/drop combo, single
log, up hill/rocks combo and "THE DOWNHILL"!!!! Oh yeah and…
I knew nothing about MTB, now know riding position, weight transfers,
rolling over logs and rocks, better understand the way MTBs work on
uneven surfaces, what fat tyres like to…
I think you have tapped into a sleeping giant. As an outside looking in, your business sense seems spot on, you both have the knowledge and respect of the mountain…
Learnt heaps, generally speaking the course improved my confidence but specific learnings included learning how to turn tight corners whilst travelling up hill, log roll overs and smoother riding on…
Was one of the best courses i have done. Went well above expectations.
Run with passion and dedication and tailored brilliantly to peoples
skill (or lack of) level. Would recommend…
All instructors have the right attitude. You're friendly and inspire a
positive attitude in your participants. Keep up the great job, and all
the best!
better cornering technique - had no idea that cornering on flat I
should be back of the seat - If anything I thought my weight should be
forward! Pumping on…
Yes. Smooth cornering & hill descent, riding over small/medium log obstacles without the lost of momentums. Mono-hops and even basic jumping skills also.
Norm had some great phrases that were excellent visual/verbal markers to improving technique. Although I still don\'t understand SLOW DOWN. Can you think of something for that one?
Numbers allocated to each guide were fantastic, provide individuals
with schedule/time line of course, everything was great, support and
encouragement was great.
Mountain Bike Skills clinics and camps, conducted in various locations around Victoria including: Lysterfield, You Yangs, Forrest and Anglesea. Beginners to race ready riders.
Our philosophy is to "improve your confidence". Most new MTB riders and also some experienced ones, simply lack the confidence in order to correctly "nail" many skills. Read what Norm Douglas has to say about why we started MTB Skills Clinics.
If you are new to Mountain Biking, have just started racing, would like to race or maybe you have been riding for some time, and want to learn the correct technique you weren't taught in the beginning, then these are the clinics for you. Our clinics and camps are NOT pretentious, rather they focus on YOU the cyclist and constantly focusing on how much FUN you can have once you have the skills and confidence. We also have a maximum of 10 participants at each course and 2 instructors, meaning that you get a lot of attention and support for the session.
Women are especially catered for, in an environment that certainly doesn't accept that men are always better than women. Jessica Douglas is one of the instructors and is an elite Mountain Bike rider who has over time (along with tears and tantrums), learnt the correct techniqe. Jessica is constantly learning new skills and loves to hit the trails with better riders to continually hone and improve what she already knows and also pick up some tips and hints along the way.
Come and join us in one of our Camps or Clinics to GAIN MORE CONFIDENCE - RIDE FASTER - HOW TO RACE, and JUST HAVE MORE FUN. Our Camps and Clinics are designed by Mountain Bikers for YOU the rider. We have clinics approxiamately every four weeks and 2-3 Camps per year depending on demand. Read more and sign up for the next clinic now .
I learnt an enormous amount on the day. The real value came however on
the day after when I went back to the track for a ride. I was
comfortable performing most of the techniques learnt, negotiated
obstacles I was previously having trouble with and even 'ruled the
rock garden'. My enjoyment has lifted to new levels.
better cornering technique - had no idea that cornering on flat I
should be back of the seat - If anything I thought my weight should be
forward! Pumping on a drop, track standing tips.. um, I ride too big a
chainring most of the time.. The "truth" behind offroad rolling
resistance tire pressure and UST (will be looking into Stan's soon), "Look up!" In the rockgardens... Un-weighting the front end - never
thought of it that way, just tended to smash my way through obstacles.
Torque bars make an excellent dessert in a pinch...

I knew nothing about MTB, now know riding position, weight transfers,
rolling over logs and rocks, better understand the way MTBs work on
uneven surfaces, what fat tyres like to grip on better, can't ride a
MTB like a road bike, eventhough you may not be a natural to MTB
riding, you're never too old to learn something new, lots of big bad
bruises on the legs make you look tough
Was one of the best courses i have done. Went well above expectations.
Run with passion and dedication and tailored brilliantly to peoples
skill (or lack of) level. Would recommend it to anyone. Me and the
girls i went with have swapped email addresses and have started
mountain biking on a Saturday. We were never made to feel stupid,
although we knew we were hopeless. Thank-you so much.
Safety first - basic checks, navigating slight downhill in attack
position, a switchback, drop, built up log, roots/drop combo, single
log, up hill/rocks combo and "THE DOWNHILL"!!!! Oh yeah and that Norm
has had heaps of practice catching riders mid fall - sorry Norm you had
some more practice at the 02 Aug clinic!!!!
PRIOR TO MY MTB SKILLS DAY, I HAD RIDDEN MY BIKE A HANDFUL OF TIMES AND
KNEW NOTHING ABOUT SINGLE TRACK RIDING, IN 6 HOURS I HAVE LEARNED MORE
THAN I COULD EVER HAVE EXPECTED AND HAVE CONFIDENCE TO CONTINUE ON. THE
STAFF AT MTB WERE ACCOMMODATING AND EXTREMELY THOROUGH AND ABOVE ALL
WERE NON-INTIMIDATING DESPITE THEIR EXPERTISE. THANKYOU VERY, VERY MUCH
FOR AN AWESOME DAY!
