I really thought the whole day was run very well. The intros were excellent, a great icebreaker and Norm's instruction was top notch. I think you are doing a wonderful job.

I learnt an enormous amount on the day. The real value came however on the day after when I went back to the track for a ride. I was comfortable performing most of the techniques learnt, negotiated obstacles I was previously having trouble with and even 'ruled the rock garden'. My enjoyment has lifted to new levels.

I had a really good time and was definitely challenged in a good way. I really enjoyed it all and it was great to finish doing the whole track in one and the different obstacles, we had worked with. Thanks

better cornering technique - had no idea that cornering on flat I should be back of the seat - If anything I thought my weight should be forward! Pumping on a drop, track standing tips.. um, I ride too big a chainring most of the time.. The "truth" behind offroad rolling resistance tire pressure and UST (will be looking into Stan's soon), "Look up!" In the rockgardens... Un-weighting the front end - never thought of it that way, just tended to smash my way through obstacles. Torque bars make an excellent dessert in a pinch...

Get the technique rightand what you think you are doing and what you actually do are often different.

Go with the flow, body position, don't brake sooo much, Look up, getting over things and so much more. That the trails I ride a not REAL MTB tracks, REAL MTB tracks are so much better (and more challenging)
  • Sue McDonough
My confidence has soared, tried stuff I would never have tried on my own.

How to tackle rocky uphills and how to approach/navigate dropoffs. Looking for 'A' lines and 'the path not always ridden'

Can honestly not think of any improvement - it was a great day. As well as the techniques instilled - the concept of trusting your bike and following the front wheel faithfully down the hill somehow struck a chord.

straight arms bum back ,keep off the brakes esp front, throw bike forward and lots more hard to be critical.Jess did great job

Thanks for a great MTB skills day on Sunday. Jess was outstanding. Her patience, focus on each student, and clear description of each skill and how to perform it made the day both fun and informative. Because of your course structure and Jess’ coaching skills I could see and feel an exponential improvement in my riding as the session progressed. This was reinforced a number of times in the second half of the session but non-more-so than the entry into the Boulder run. Seeing the rock wall and then breezing over it confirmed to me that I had metabolised the…

Even if you only pick up one or two new techniques and a little extra confidence (and you will) you will ride away from this course a faster, safer rider. Time and money very well spent.
  • Greg Smith
putting my new techniques into practice has made riding soooo much more satisfying!

PRIOR TO MY MTB SKILLS DAY, I HAD RIDDEN MY BIKE A HANDFUL OF TIMES AND KNEW NOTHING ABOUT SINGLE TRACK RIDING, IN 6 HOURS I HAVE LEARNED MORE THAN I COULD EVER HAVE EXPECTED AND HAVE CONFIDENCE TO CONTINUE ON. THE STAFF AT MTB WERE ACCOMMODATING AND EXTREMELY THOROUGH AND ABOVE ALL WERE NON-INTIMIDATING DESPITE THEIR EXPERTISE. THANKYOU VERY, VERY MUCH FOR AN AWESOME DAY!
  • Beth Meades
I thoroughly enjoyed the day and thought it was pitched at exactly the right level. Thank you
  • Ben Culton
Jess, Norm and the rest of the gang run their courses in a friendly and entertaining way. A perfect way to spend a day learning new skills or refining the ones you already have.
  • Chris Sammartino
Really enjoy the trails out there as always. It was great to get advice on line choice / setting up for obstacles - with which I managed to nail a drop on Mariner's on my second go which I kept stuffing on previous visits to Forrest. The fact it became second nature when I hit it a couple more times later in the day means you've managed to get me setting up for trail features a bit better already.
  • Alison Douglas
Instructors were brilliant, and pateient. The best aspect of the course for me, was to be riding with an instructor who was confident and whom i trusted, not to get me killed!
  • Jac Connell
Yes, I learnt some really good basic MTB skills such as positioning on the bike, cornering, log rolling and down hill riding. Jess and Liz were fantastic in explaining and demonstrating how to perform these different skills plus they gave me lots of confidence and encouragement. The notes provided have been a good reference to go back over what I have learnt. It was a fun day and its been great to have made some MTB friends from the course. I look forward to doing another clinic in the near future

I knew nothing about MTB, now know riding position, weight transfers, rolling over logs and rocks, better understand the way MTBs work on uneven surfaces, what fat tyres like to grip on better, can't ride a MTB like a road bike, eventhough you may not be a natural to MTB riding, you're never too old to learn something new, lots of big bad bruises on the legs make you look tough
